Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club

Boardwalk, Beach Club, and Yacht Club are ranked in my top favorite hotels.  If I could combine little parts of each with the Polynesian and Contemporary then I would have my favorite Disney resort.

We stayed at the Yacht Club first.  Greeted by a gentleman in a Captain's hat was a special welcome.  Our room was quite a distance from the main lobby until we found a short cut.  Remember, I am not a fan of elevators. There happened to be stairs right by our room that lead onto the boardwalk by the boat rental.  We could also enter the stairs in the evening from the outside so it did not matter that we far from the main area.  The room had a view of a small garden area.  We enjoyed the room as it was spacious. This is one benefit of a deluxe resort.  The rooms can sleep 5 adults.  The decor was not too fancy so we did not feel out of place.  The resort is a short walk from Epcot and also Hollywood Studios.  You have access to boat transportation as well as the buses.  Across Stormalong Bay you can enjoy boardwalk games and eateries such as Ample Hills Creamery.  We also enjoyed access to the most popular pool area at WDW resorts.  To gain access to this pool, guests are given an additional band to wear as some people try to sneak use of this pool area.  The main pool area has a lazy river as well as two water slides.  In total, the resort has three pools. If you want to try something else, the Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf is located near the resort. In the evening Cast members host Movies Under the Starts as well as campfire activities.  The Yacht Club does has dog friendly accommodations.

Honestly there is not much difference between the Beach Club and Yacht Club except price and decor.  They are both considered deluxe resorts but prices differ based on offered specials throughout the year.  The Beach Club takes my back to the days of Saved by the Bell when the gang worked at a beach club for the summer.  It is not decorated in a tacky way by any means, but beachy.  I prefer the decor of the Yacht Club.  However, the rooms are conveniently located closer to the amenities and the path to Epcot.  We did enjoy Club Level here one time.  Not our favorite because it was highly crowded and difficult to find places to enjoy the snacks at times.  But we still liked the private area, nightly turn-down service, and our amazing view. The resorts share a health club as well as a children's activity center called the Sandcastle Club. Oh, and don't forget a stop at Beaches'n'Cream.  You can make a reservation to sit and enjoy hot dogs and of course the kitchen sink but you can also order ice cream at the counter.  One of my favorite memories is surprising the kids after swimming with a mini-kitchen sink for dessert!

While we highly enjoyed the Beach Club and Yacht Club, I think our family would pick the Boardwalk over the two.  It is decorated with turn-of-the-century Atlantic City fare.  On the boardwalk along Crescent Lake you will find a Coney-island style atmosphere.  Carnival games such as flipping a lobster into a pot along with some ice cream make the evening relaxing away from the parks.  We highly enjoyed the pool.  While some people are put off with the clown water slide, we think it is one of the best Disney resorts have to offer.  In fact, we're headed to Disney to stay at Boardwalk mid-July.  We have plans to enjoy the resort pool at least two days.  I will post pictures when we return =)
