Jedi Training Academy
Our family is a Star Wars obsessed family. While we may not be as devout as some, we love it. Hollywood Studios allows us to get our Star Wars fix and it will definitely generate more crowds when Galaxy’s Edge opens. Currently there are character meet and greets with Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, and BB-8. The Jawas walk around and are always ready to trade for something shiny. If you have a Disney Visa card you can do a private meet and greet with Kylo Ren. There is also movie shorts to watch as well as the March of the Storm Troopers through the park. The Storm Troopers will engage with you on a limited basis. I suggest wearing Star Wars gear to catch their attention. Cooper had a neon green Jedi shirt that always attracted their attention.
Cooper was ready for training but Reagan was not. She was old enough (kids must be between ages 4-12) but was hesitant to do it alone. Parents cannot accompany their children during the process. I would suggest getting to Hollywood Studios about 30 minutes before they open. There is a separate line for those interested in the Jedi Training Academy on the left side of the entrance. Your Youngling must be there when you register them. So if you travel with a crew who likes to sleep in, one parent and the child can go early to register and the rest of the family can meet at the park at a later time. You register at the Indiana Jones Adventure Outpost between the Indiana Jones Stunt show and the 50s Prime Time Cafe. If you do not know your way around Hollywood Studios, don’t fret. There are Cast Members directing the line in the right direction. Once they let people in you will see some parents run. Don’t freak out as there is space for your child and Cast Members will kindly ask you to stop running. While availability is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, if you are there first thing in the morning your Youngling will be able to participate easily. You need to be aware of your Fast Pass times and any dining reservations for the day because you sign up for a Jedi Training time. You need to be there on time so in Disney with the crowds, I would suggest a 15 minute buffer. The training takes about 20 minutes. You will get to see your young Jedi battle either Kylo Ren, Darth Vader, or the Sinister Sister. There is an older Jedi Cast Member guiding them in the battle. Take all the pictures you can but photo pass ones will also be available. The children do not keep their cloaks or lightsabers however there are numerous outposts where your newly trained Jedi can build their own!
