Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
We decided to participate in Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in September 2016. We went during September for a long weekend due to scheduling conflicts in October. The event actually starts in August on select weekdays and weekends. Prices are cheaper in August and gradually increase to October. If you are an annual pass member there are discounted tickets sold. Knowing this would be a short trip we did not want to be inconvenienced by transportation so we stayed in at the Polynesian. This was also our first experience with Club Level. Once again, we love the Polynesian because of the transportation to Magic Kingdom. We enjoyed the water taxi especially after the party. The crowds were minimal and it was a relaxing ride so late at night.
Though the party is from 7pm until midnight, you may enter the park at 4pm with your event tickets. You will receive party wristbands at the gates. You and your party will be directed to the right behind shops on Main Street to receive your party bag and a map of the park. Be mindful that not all of the attractions are open during the party. You need to check online to see which ones are. Since that is the case, maximize your party time by getting to the park at 4pm. Characters and shows specifically for the party will not start until 7. I highly suggest to ride some attractions between 4 and 7pm. Of course, if there is a specific high demand character you want to see, like Jack Skellington and Sally, you need to get in line early. We waited around 2.5 hours to see them. The wait was lengthened due to rain and lightning. If there is lightning in the area, the characters are taken in to appear later. The benefit of the party is seeing characters that are not normally at the parks. The Seven Dwarfs made an appearance at Pete's Silly Side Show and the wait was crazy long!
There are numerous places to gather candy and trust me, you will get plenty! Besides the candy, make plans to sample all of the included snacks. Some are free and some have to be purchased. Many are fans of treats like the candy corn ice cream that is only available at MNSSHP. We made the mistake of prioritizing rides. I wish we had spent more time enjoying the parades. During the parties (Halloween and Christmas), Disney has special floats, unique music, and specialty characters. You can catch the Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular at Cinderella's Castle and then camp out for the Boo-to-You Parade and later the fireworks show. When we returned for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, we made sure to see all shows and parades. We actually made it until midnight! That is surprising for us as that is the latest we've ever stayed at a park. Oh, and one more thing...the costumes! Dress up!! That is the fun of being there with your family. There are rules such as no masks or weapons or acting as an impostor to a Disney character. Specific details about costumes are available here. Disney themed costumes are best and we saw many adorable families dressed up together.
